Continuous Improvement

We encourage everyone in our team to seek out, support and implement changes to make the services we provide better quality and more cost-effective.

Our belief is that the benefits of continuous improvement are substantial and long-lasting, and that through making better use of our own and others’ expertise, we can make a significant difference to our work’s quality, cost-effectiveness, and impact.

We want to be an organisation that learns from its experiences and from those of others, capitalising on the lessons of successes and failures to improve our performance month-on-month and year-on-year.

New technology and better ways of working

All members of staff are encouraged to undertake further relevant training and adopt a lifelong-learning philosophy. The company supports employees wherever possible with their personal development.

Operatives undertake NVQ Horticulture study. Finance staff undertaking AAT study and Xero (cloud accounting software) certification.

The Garden People has adopted a cloud infrastructure for administration and communications, based on Microsoft’s Office365 suite. On site employees can video-call, exchange photos, message and schedule meetings and tasks, using Microsoft Teams on mobile devices. Our documentation and other digital assets can be accessed by any employee (with appropriate permissions) from anywhere.

The company uses a new, digital only bank and intends to take a technology-based approach to process improvement, cost-management and service delivery. All accounting is now done on the Xero cloud system, which will support future integration with project-management, timesheets, job-tracking, and reporting integrations.
